On Jun. 21st and 22nd, 2014, full-day tutorials was held on focus Ion beam(FIB), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), Environmental TEM and nano-mechanics measurement and application. This tutorial was held by CAMP-Nano in the room 205, 210 and 215 of MSE building. Cooperating with the manufacturers, the seminar aimed to provide an opportunity for mutual exchange. Integrated lectures, reports on basic theory, operating techniques and live experiment demo were included in this seminar.
On Jun. 21st, the high resolution TEM tutorial and the FIB tutorial began at the same time. The high resolution TEM tutorial focused on the application of STEM in materials science, structure, principles and operation of TEM and crystal defects. Meanwhile, the electronic basis of FIB/SEM dual beam system, the application in the preparation of TEM sample by using FIB/SEM dual beam system. Foundation and practice of FIB and new developments and applications of ZEZSS dull beam were also introduced in this tutorial.
On Jun. 22nd, the ETEM tutorial and the nano-mechanics tutorial began at the same time. The ETEM tutorial aimed at providing a broad overview of the fundamental background, unfamiliar concepts and state-of-the-art technologies of environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM). Invited speakers, Prof. Judith C. Yang (University of Pittsburgh) and Dr.Xiaofeng Zhang (Hitachi High Technologies American) gave us a excellent presentation on the application of ETEM in materials research, respectively. The nano-mechanics tutorial provided a platform for communication on the functions, application and skills of nano-mechanics testing equipment related to recent achievements of nano-mechanics. Speakers included Ryan.J.Stromberg(Hysitron), Dr.Renbo Wei(Hysitron), Shanlin Zhou, a technical stuff of CAMP-Nano, as well as some students from CAMP-Nano.
