The first national academic conference of youth scholars on the research of magnesium alloy

On 9th January, invited by Prof. Wu ruizhi, the vice director of the Key Laboratory of Superlight Materials and Surface Technology of Ministry of Education, Harbin Engineering University, Dr. Liu Boyu and Yang Nan, a youth faculty and a graduate of CAMP-Nano, participated the first national academic conference of youth scholars on the research of magnesium alloy in Harbin. Many prominent peers from all over the country were also invited to this conference.
This meeting was aimed at promoting the communications and collaborations of youth scholars on the magnesium alloy research. The conference commenced at 8:00 am, the leader of Harbin Engineering University gave the opening speech of this meeting. He said that it was a great honor to convene so many young talents and he hoped this conference could be held every year. After that, the attendees gave their reports respectively. Dr. Liu Boyu gave a report on “A new plastic deformation mechanism in magnesium- reconstruction of unit cell”. This work was appreciated by the audiences. Yang Nan exhibited a poster about “In-situ investigation of the interactions between deformation twinning and precipitates in magnesium alloys” during the break of the meeting.
The meeting lasted for 2 days. At the end of this meeting, the leader of Harbin Engineering University pronounced that the national academic committee of youth scholars on the research of magnesium alloy was formally established and this conference was successfully concluded.
