The second day’s session of the 9th International Workshop on Materials Behavior at Micro- and Nano-Scale was focused on 4 aspects: (1) Mechanical behaviors of submicron materials; (2) In situ investigations on the effects of gas towards small volume of metals; (3) Characterization and analysis for magnetic materials; (4) Newly developed material test technology. In total 11 invited speaker and 5 native speakers gave audiences wonderful lectures.
Prof. H.W.Ngan, University of Hong Kong, gave the first talk of today. He concluded many interesting experiments and critical results of past ten years. Dr. Shihao Li, a PhD student in CAMP-Nano, gave his first talk on international conference. Although his speech was inexperienced, but did receive lots of applauses. CAMP-Nano still offers sufficient opportunities for its students to exhibit their works. Dr. Degang Xie and Dr. Mengli, members of CAMP-Nano, gave talks on in situ investigation of the interaction between H_2 and aluminum. Their experimental phenomenon were very interesting, the audiences took out their cellphones to take photos one by one. Once, they were inexperienced, but for now, they have become skillful speakers.
In the afternoon, invited speakers talked about their newly developed technologies and devices to measure and characterize materials, such as magnetic reconstruction of the three-dimensional magnetization distribution, direct electron detector, high speed nanoindentation, etc. Although the computer for presentation didn’t work properly when a speaker wanted to show a movie, but the problem finally recovered by the efforts of campers and other warm-heart speakers.
In the evening, 7:00 pm-10:00 pm, 10 students exhibit their process on their works. Many specialists and invited speakers reviewed their posters and discussed warmly with students. They will vote to select the best top 3 posters when poster session is over.
