The 10th KH Kuo summer school & the 10th international workshop on materials behavior at micro- and nano-scale will be held from May 30th to June 2nd , 2017 in Xi’an Jiaotong University. The workshop is organized mainly by KH Kuo education foundation, School of Materials Science and Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials the Center for Advancing Materials Performance from the Nanoscale (CAMP-Nano), electroscopy society of Shanxi Province and Material analysis and research center of Shanxi Province in Northwestern Polytechnic University.
Supported by this meeting, nano mechanics on application technology seminar will be held in the first meeting room in Zhongying building of material school on May 29th 2017. The seminar aims at promoting discussion and communication between researchers and technical worker working on nano mechanical testing techniques. The application of testing techniques such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), environmental transmission electron microscope (ETEM) and nano indentation on evolution of mechanic and microstructure with thermal, mechanical, electrical and atmosphere field coupling will be discussed. May 30th, the meeting will be kicked off by 10th KH Kuo summer school. Dr. Xiaofeng Zhang from Hitachi high-tech, researcher Xiuliang Ma from Institute of metal research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dr. Xingzhong Li from University of Nebraska system will give us three talks respectively, “the topic of which are Electron microscopy”, “an experimental case of electron diffraction and phase analysis“ and “electron diffraction modeling and introduction of crystallographic analysis software Landyne”. There will exists Lucky draw during the lecture, where lucky dogs will be awarded a book “Micrograph—a clear nanoscale”written by Dr. Xiaofeng Zhang. From May 31st to June 2nd, The 10th international workshop on materials behavior at micro- and nano-scale will be held formally. The first two days’ reports are held in Multifunctional Lecture Hall of main building, while the four sub-forums in June 2nd in the first, second and fourth meeting room of Zhongying building and academic report room B251-253 of school of science. Nearly 30 well-known scientists at home and abroad and more than 40 young scholars are invited, from different countries and universities, including Prof. Hengqiang Ye, academician of the Chinese academy of sciences at Peking University, Prof. John W. Morris，fellow of the American Academy of engineering, University of California at Berkeley and Prof. Knut W. Urban, scientist of The German Research Center Juelich and fellow of the German Academy of Sciences.
29 Plenary Reports, 48 Invited Report and 6 oral presentations are included, correlating the development prospect of nano materials and material performance analysis test equipment and more than traditional materials and theory research of energy and battery. Until now, the scale of workshop can be up to 400 people.

Appendix: KH Kuo summer school is in memory of Scientific thinking and nurturing spirit by Kexin Guo, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Physical metallurgy and crystallographer, and inherit it. It was advocated and initiated by his students and KH Kuo education foundation and held by Chinese scholars domestic and overseas in the field of electroscopy. Based on international seminar held by KH Kuo summer school, the theme of which is biology and materials science alternated annually.
