The 2012 Workshop on In Situ Electron Microscopy in Advanced Materials Research hosted by CAMP-Nano was opened in Nan Yang Hotel, Xi’an, on June 12 afternoon. The workshop will be held from June 12 to June 15, and this workshop aims to provide a forum for the scientists and students to share results and experience of real-time in situ TEM study of materials under the influence of various external physical fields. At the same time, another important goal of this workshop is to foster in situ TEM research community in China and provide opportunities for scientific and instrumental collaborations.
At the opening remarks, Prof. Evan Ma, introduced the instruments of CAMP-Nano and welcomed all the invited speakers and attendants. At last, he showed thanks to the organizers for their work.

According to the organizers, nearly 30 worldwide famous scientists and scholars have accepted invitations to make reports during the workshop. Up to now, about 40 attendants have registered in the workshop’s website and one part of these researchers come from the domestic and abroad enterprises, such as Baosteel Research Institute, GM Research Institute in China and Nissan ARC Ltd, Japan etc. And the other part is teachers, doctoral students, graduates students from Sydney University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, and Chinese Academy of Science, etc.
The organizers have received many enterprises’ sponsorships, including those who have long-term cooperative relationship with CAMP-Nano, such as Hysitron, Inc., Hitachi Ltd., Protochips, Inc. and Gatan, Inc. State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Properties of Materials (MBM) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) are also the sponsor partners.
