The attendees of this symposium include: Mr. Li Chunlin, member of municipal committee and vice mayor of Yulin; Mr. Lan Jianwen, chief engineer of provincial Office of Industry and Information Technology; Mr. Chai Xiaopin, director of Office of Industry and Information Technology in Yulin; Prof. Sun Jun, director of State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials; Prof. Guo Liejin, director of State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering; Prof. Shan Zhiwei, director of CAMP-Nano. Besides, Prof. Zhang Shaojun from Zhengzhou University and the representatives from relevant companies also participated in the discussion.

 

Magnesium industry, as an industry with great prospects, is a focus of 12th Five-Year Plan for new materials industries. It is also an essential industry of Yulin, as Yulin is the most important origin for magnesium around the world. During the symposium, Prof. Shan Zhiwei and Prof. Zhang Shaojun gave the presentation respectively on the current situation of magnesium industry in Shaanxi Province and on a novel technology for magnesium smelting. Their talks aroused the same concern of the present leaders and entrepreneurs. The representatives from companies expressed their opinions for the cooperation between universities and companies to reverse the current depression of the whole magnesium industry. Mr. Lan Jianwen also stated that provincial Office of Industry and Information Technology would give full support for the school-enterprise cooperations.

 

Thereafter, School of Materials Science and Engineering signed the cooperation agreement with two companies in Yulin. At the end of the symposium, Mr. Li Chunlin made his concluding remarks in which he expressed his support for the cooperation between Xi’an Jiaotong University and magnesium related companies in Yulin.
