Synchrotron radiation has evolved tremendously in recent decades in sources, instrumentation, and applications in materials studies. Recommended and advised by Prof. Zhiwei Shan, Director of CAMPNano, guest edited by Prof. Klaus-Dieter Liss from University of Wollongong, Australia, and Prof. Kai Chen from CAMPNano, MRS Bulletin (IF = 5.7) on-line published a special issue (Volume 41 , Issue 06) on the state of the art synchrotron research as it relates to materials science studies.
Cover art of the June 2016 issue of MRS Bulletin on Synchrotron Radiation Research in Materials Science
Aiming at exposing matured and pioneering synchrotron radiation X-ray based techniques for in-depth investigations of materials, this dedicated issue includes one introductory article and five invited review articles, which are:
- An overview of past, present, and future of synchrotron research
- Synchrotron X-ray Laue microdiffraction
- Synchrotron X-ray dark-field microscopy
- Synchrotron high-energy X-ray diffraction on battery materials
- Synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy on energy materials
- Synchrotron radiation in high-pressure research
