Dr. Wei Zhang, an Associate Professor from CAMP-Nano (Center for Advancing Materials Performance from the Nanoscale), Xi’an Jiaotong University, has been selected to be one of the national "1000 Young Talents" scholars recently. 

The "1000 Young Talents" program was initiated by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee in December 2010, which is the national supreme talents recruitment plan. It aims at attracting excellent young talents overseas to work in China, and supporting them to become the leaders of specific fields of research or technology. The selected talents are expected to be less than 40 years old with high profile of education and research background. Since 2011, almost 400 overseas talents per year have been recruited as members of this plan with an overall number of 2000 till 2016.

Dr. Wei Zhang obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in the department of Physics at Zhejiang University in 2008 and 2010, and obtained his Ph.D. degree in the department of Physics at RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2014. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the same place from April, 2014 to April, 2015. Now he is a distinguished research fellow and an associate professor in CAMP-Nano, School of Materials Science and Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University. His research mainly focuses on phase-change memory materials and first principles materials design.
