The first all-hands group meeting of the spring semester of 2012 was held at 7:00 PM on Feb. 16 in Room 215, MSE building. Prof. Shan, the executive director of CAMP-Nano presided over this meeting. He first delivered an inspiriting speech on reviewing the background, significance and target of the scientific research in CAMP-Nano, and then shared his study and work experience with all campers. At the end of the speech, he encouraged campers to be positive and aggressive, and to try the best to realize the dreams.
After Prof. Shan’s presentation, each camper briefed her/his personal goals and dreams in the new Dragon year. The meeting topic next focused on everyone’s personal plan in this semester. Each camper gave a brief and clear presentation about it with the sequence of administrative staff, technical staff, teachers, postdocs, PhD candidates, graduates and undergraduates.
In the middle of meeting, Prof. Shan’s lovely kid lit the candles of a birthday cake and kicked off a surprising birthday party for two campers born in February, Prof. Shan and Wei Guo, an undergraduate student. When campers together sang “Happy Birthday to You”, the meeting room was filled with warmth and gaiety.
