On 28th, March, the second forum for outstanding young investigator was held by Fundamental Research Association (FRA) of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in the NPU International Convention Center, and it lasted two days.
Prof. Zhiwei Shan from CAMP-Nano was invited to give a report on “Mechanical properties of micronanoscaled materials”. He introduced to attendees about the importance of carrying out researches in the field of mechanical properties of micronanoscaled materials and the achievements he and his team has already gained. His work is focused on probing and advancing the performance of materials from the nanoscale using the state of art instruments, especially in situ electron microscopes equipped with all kinds of quantitative stimulus, e.g. mechanical, thermal, electrical measurement and even gas environment.
FRA was established in 2013 by 19 young professors from NPU. It is aimed at the development of fundamental research which corresponds to the industrial problems. The association hopes to improve the fundamental research in material, mechanics, internet, math, physics, chemistry and many other basic subjects by organizing seminars and promoting cooperation. In 2014, the first forum for outstanding youth was held successfully, and the forum received recognition from specialists and scholars. As a result, the second forum was decided to be held in March, 2015. Scholars who are supported by the Fund for Outstanding Young Investigator from the National Natural Science Foundation of China were invited to attend the seminar.
Prof. Shan was sharing the story of CAMP-Nano with the attendees.
