The National Scholarship for Graduate Student is set up by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, which is supported by the central financial, aiming to reward the outstanding full-time graduate of ordinary colleges and universities. And it just awards ten thousands Ph.D students every year. There are three campers of CAMP-Nano obtain the National Scholarship, including Yuecun Wang, Lie Yang and Xiaoguang Wang, which is a supreme honor for them.
Yuecun Wang got her Bachelor degree in materials science and engineering from NWPU in 2013, and then continued her further study for Ph.D degree in CAMP-Nano, XJTU-MSE under the guidance of Prof. Zhiwei Shan, the dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of XJTU, and now is a 2nd year PhD student. Her researches mainly focus on the ‘Mechanical behaviors of Si-based materials at micro-nanoscale’ and the ‘In Situ Environmental/Heating/Nanomechanical TEM’. Until now, she has published seven research papers (three first-author papers, one co-first author paper and three cooperation papers) in the peer reviewed journals, including Nano Energy(IF=11.553)，NPG Asia Materials(IF=8.772), Small(IF=8.315) and Applied Physics Letters(IF=3.142) et al, and she had applied for an invention patent. In addition, in May 2016, she received the subsidization qualification of the China Scholarship Council to study abroad, and she will soon go to the Materials Science and Engineering of University of California Berkeley as a joint training student for one year.
Lie Yang is a Ph.D candidate from CAMP-Nano, supervised by Associate Professor Xiaohui Ning and Professor Evan Ma. His research interests include design and synthesis of anode materials for lithium/sodium ion batteries, and in-situ study of the lithiation/sodiation process of electrode materials. Recently, he has published one first-author paper in Nano Energy (IF=11.553), authorized three invention patents, and gave an oral report in the Internal Workshop on Materials Behavior at Micro- and Nano- Scale. His motto is ‘Keep Calm and Curious’.
Mr. Xiaoguang Wang is now a Ph.D candidate from CAMP-Nano in the school of materials science and engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, supervised by Prof. Zhiwei Shan, the dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of XJTU. He received his Bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2011. After that he joined Prof. Zhiwei Shan's group and started his research on ‘mechanical and electrical properties of nano-scaled semiconductor materials’, such as GaN, ZnO and Si NWs. In 2014 he stayed at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for 6 months as a visiting student. He is experienced and fluent in Focused Ion Beam (FIB), MEMS, imaging and diffraction techniques and mechanical tests in electron microscopes. During his study for doctorate, he had published one first-author paper and one fourth-author paper in Nano Letter(IF=13.779). On account of his excellent performance, he received the subsidization qualification of the China Scholarship Council to study abroad and he will be soon go to the Materials Science and Engineering of University of California Berkeley for studying during December 2016 to November 2017. His motto is ‘Human Rests on Action, Harvest lies in Pursuit’.
No pains, No gains. Covered behind the honor, all of them had paid more than the ordinary people. Let’s us all set them as an example, study hard down to earth, and strive to do a good job in our own sub-work. Finally, we all may acquire the analogous honor like them some day!
