Congratulations to Prof. Ming Dao, guest professor of CAMP-Nano, for being awarded as 2016 ASME Fellow (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), which is regarded as a significant honor for Prof. Ming Dao and his “many seminal contributions in his engineering research and development career in the following areas: i) cell mechanics and human diseases, ii) nanomechanics of advanced materials, and iii) nanoscale materials characterization technology development” according to the ASME citation.
Founded in 1880, ASME now consists of over 125,000 members from all over the world. ASME mainly engaged in the development of science and technology in the field of mechanical engineering and related. It encourages the fundamental research, promotes academic exchanges, develops the cooperation with other associations, carries out standardization activities, and develops mechanical specifications and standards. Now, ASME has 600 standards and codes of the industrial and manufacturing, which were adopted in more than 90 countries. What’s more, ASME hosted a large number of top academic conferences in the field of mechanical engineering, such as IMECE (International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition). And host some conferences about interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary composite industry cooperation with other top society such as IEEE. ASME has been considered to be the highest level of academic organization.
Prof. Ming Dao has been a guest professor of CAMP-Nano (Center for Advancing Materials from the Nanoscale), MSE of XJTU since 2011. He has served as the Director of Nanomechanics Laboratory at MIT since 2010. He was named Singapore Research Chair Professor of Bioengineering and Infectious Diseases by MIT in 2012. He has published more than 110 peer-reviewed SCI journal papers (averaging 50+ citations per paper), delivered more than 90 invited lectures, and chaired or co-chaired 11 international symposiums/workshops. He received twice the best paper award from Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (2006 & 2013). He authored two Top 5 Cited Papers (#2 & #5) in Acta Materialia from 2007 to 2012, and he was also rewarded the Most Cited Author of the Acta Biomaterialia from 2005 to 2008.
Congratulations to Prof. Ming Dao and CAMP-Nano again!
