The 10th KH Kuo Summer School & the 10th International Workshop on Materials Behavior at Micro - Nano Scale Was Successfully Held
The 10th K.H. Kuo Summer School and the10th International workshop on Materials Behavior at Micro - Nano scale” was successfully held from May 30th to June 2nd, under Guo Kexin Education Foundation, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, State Key Laboratory of Material Behavior, Center for Advancing Materials Performance from the Nanoscale (CAMP-Nano) , Shaanxi Institute of electron microscopy, Shaanxi Province Materials Analysis and Research Center of Northwestern Polytechnic University and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of XJTU.
The conference invited more than 70 well-known experts and scholars from China, United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Singapore, Switzerland and other countries & regions to attend the meeting. More than two hundred researchers participated in this conference under the following four themes, Advanced structural materials, Advanced analytical electron microscopy, In-situ electron microscopy and Energy & electronic materials.
The general meeting, invited talks, oral and poster representations provided a great opportunity for a warm discussion and exchange of ideas. Overall it was a great show of frontier of material science and developments happened recently .

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Evan Ma, overseas director of the CAMP-Nano. Also present at the conference includes Prof. Jun Sun, director of the State Key Laboratory of Material Behavior , Prof. Zhiwei Shan, dean of the school of Materials Science and Engineering, Prof. Jia Chunlin, Professors of Xi'an Jiaotong University & a senior researcher at the Research Center of Julich, Germany, Xide Pan, secretary of the party committee of School of MSE, Hefeng Wang, secretary of the party committee of School of MS, Prof. Yonghong Cheng, director of discipline office, Qiuling Chao, deputy director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of XJTU and others.
On May 31st, the plenary session is started with the report tilted as 学习先师，专注科学 by Prof. Heqiang Ye, Academician of Chinese Academy of Science. In the two-days plenary sessions, 29 famous scientists, researchers and engineers, including the Member of NAE & Professor of UC Berkely, Prof. John. W. Morris and Academician of the German academy of sciences, scientist of the Research Center of Julich, Germany, Prof. Knut. W. Urban, brought wonderful reports, respectively. The plenary reports comprehensively reviewed the latest developments in the field, explored scientific and technical challenges, shared the prospects for the development of nanomaterials and the development of electronic microscope equipment, and brought an unparalleled academic feast to the participants.

On the evening of June 1st, the poster selection session was held at Zhongying Building (New Material Building). A total of 39 posters from overseas scholars and postgraduates attended the selection. Posters explain carefully prepared, concise and clear to show their research work, and seize the opportunity to discuss with the experts and scholars to discuss. Finally, a total of 10 students won the excellent poster award.

Four parallel session, including Advanced structural materials, Advanced analytical electron microscopy, In-situ electron microscopy and Energy & electronic materials, were held at Zhongying Building (New Material Building). Each session of the conference invited the field of well-known young scholars to bring multi-angle academic results show, fully explored the development bottleneck in the field, to achieve a satisfactory effect.

On the afternoon of June 2, Prof. Zhiwei Shan presided over the excellent poster award ceremony. Ten invited speakers were invited to award the certificate and bonus to the excellent poster winners. Prof. Chunlin Jia was invited to deliver the closing speech. Professor Jia Chunlin said that this year, both of the K.H.Kuo summer academic seminar and the International workshop on materials behavior at Micro- and Nano scale have ushered in the tenth year, which can be described as "perfect" in Chinese. He hoped that researchers and students can make a difference in the next decade.
Through the series of academic exchanges, the conference has enhanced mutual understanding, strengthened the international cooperation and exchange of schools in this field, improved the international academic reputation and influence of the school, and laid a solid foundation for the creation of world-class universities and first-class disciplines.
