author:Pingjiong Yang   time:2017-04-27

Six campers, Prof. Zhiwei Shan, Prof. Weizhong Han, Prof. Wei Zhang, Ph.D candidate Yuncun Wang, Pingjiong Yang and Shihao Li attended the 2017 MRS Spring Meeting held from April 17-21 in Phoenix.
During the meeting, Prof. Zhiwei Shan gave three invited talks. The first one was ‘In Situ TEM Study on the Dislocation Behavior in Micronanoscaled Single Crystal Metals’ in the session of ‘CM.10: Small scale Nanomechanical Testing’. The second one was ‘ Effects of Hydrogen on the Formation of Blister and the Dislocation Behavior of Al ’ in the session of ’NM9.1: In situ Nanomechanics’. The last one was ‘In Situ TEM Study of the Mechanical Behavior of Submicron-Sized Si’ in the session of ’CM4.7: In situ TEM of Mechanical properties’.
Prof. Weizhong Han organized the symposium NM9 ‘High-Performance Metals and Alloys in Extreme Conditions’ with other organizers (Ying Chen, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Nan Li, Los Alamos National Laboratory; Christopher Weinberger, Drexel University). In addition, he gave an invited talk entitled ‘Radiation-Induced Helium Nanobubbles Enhance Ductility in Submicron-Sized Single-Crystalline Copper’ in the session of ‘CM6.12: Irradiation and Dislocations’. Prof. Wei Zhang gave a talk of ‘Atomic Defects in Hexagonal GeSbTe Compound’ in the session of ‘ED11.2: Correlation between Structure and Properities’. Meanwhile, he organized the exhibition of XJTU-MSE and received many resumes during this meeting.
Ph.D candidate Yuncun Wang gave an invited talk of ‘Helium Ion Microscope Fabrication Causing Changes in the Structure and Mechanical Behavior of Silicon Micropillars’ in the session of ‘CM5.12: Plasticity’. Pingjiong Yang and Shihao Li also gave their talks respectively in the symposium NM9. In addition, Pingjiong Yang and Shihao Li served as symposium assistants for NM9 during the 2017 MRS Spring Meeting.
The 2017 MRS Spring Meeting & Exhibit is the key forum to present research to an interdisciplinary and international audience. It provided a window on the future of materials science, and offered an opportunity for researchers—from students and postdoctoral fellows, to Nobel and Kavli Prize Laureates—to exchange technical information and network with colleagues. http://www.mrs.org/spring2017
