The 11th International Workshop on Materials Behavior at Micro - Nano Scale Was Successfully Held

From June 8th to 10th, the 11th International Workshop on Materials Behavior at the Micro- and Nano-Scale was successfully held in Xi’an, China. The workshop is hosted by the School of Material Science and Engineering, State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Center for Advancing Materials Performance from the Nanoscale (CAMP-Nano), Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges of Xi’an Jiaotong University.
The opening ceremony was officially opened in 101 room of Science Building. Prof. Guang Xi, vice-president of Xi’an Jiaotong University, attended and delivered the welcome speech on behalf of the school. Professor Jun Sun, director of the State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials, and Professor Zhiwei Shan, dean of the School of Material Science and Engineering, attended the ceremony. At 8:00 am in the morning, Prof. Even Ma, the overseas director of CAMP-Nano, as a host and the opening speaker, delivered a report entitled "Sub-nanometer Structural Control Breaks Speed Record for Phase-change Memory", which made a good start for the whole workshop.
During the three-day conference, 34 well-known scientists, researchers and engineers in the field brought wonderful reports, including Professor Horst Hahn, Professor Ju Li, Professor Jian Luo, ect. Among all the speakers, there are not only well-known scholars, but also some doctoral students from CAMP-Nano. Despite their lack of experience, they all made such excellent speeches and were highly praised by the scholars present. The topics of these reports covered several frontier research fields in material science, including phase-change material, alloys, in-situ TEM studies, twinning, nanomaterials, etc. The venue of workshop was serious but active.
At 19:00 pm on June 9, the poster session was successfully held on the second floor of the MSE New building. A total of 24 posters participated in the selection. The poster interpreters carefully prepared and presented their research work concisely and clearly. They seized this opportunity to conduct and exchange with experts and scholars face-to-face. After the voted, 12 students eventually won the outstanding poster awards.
On the afternoon of June 10, the closing ceremony was held in 101 room of Science Building. Professor Zhiwei Shan, dean of the School of Material Science and Engineering, presided over the closing ceremony and gave the concluding remark. 12 invited reporters were invited to award certificates and prizes to the poster session winners. Finally, Professor Zhiwei Shan thanked all the presenters and attendees, as well as the organizers and volunteers.
